The Advantages of Spiral Duct
When selecting and installing ductwork, the two main options are rectangular or spiral duct. Many facilities in and around Pittsburgh use spiral ductwork due to its range of advantages:
- Less leaking: Thanks to the shape of the joints, spiral ducts typically experience less leakage. This design can help keep heating, cooling and filtering costs low while preventing adverse effects on indoor air quality.
- Less noise: Spiral duct has lower pressure drops and a rigid design that helps them create less noise.
- Easier to insulate: Because they're stiffer, applying insulation to the spiral duct is easier.
- Easier to clean: Spiral ducts are also easier to clean with cost-effective methods.
Installing spiral ductwork can be a powerful choice for your HVAC system, and we're ready to set you up with the right solution.
Does Spiral Duct Need To Be Insulated?
This can change depending on the situation, but usually, you don't need to insulate the spiral duct if the return pulls air from the same height, which is one of the advantages of spiral ductwork. Insulating ductwork will ensure the air that flows through your system will maintain the same temperature without leaks.
Spiral Duct Suspension with a Standard Hanger
Manufacturers use steel, chromium and iron to create stainless steel. As iron supports welding operations and can significantly slow down or even reduce corrosion, stainless steel makes excellent ducts. HMF is one of the best stainless steel duct manufacturers, offering stainless steel spiral duct products that are ready for installation. We also provide custom-built stainless steel options. You can offer clients the most durable duct solutions by opting for stainless steel spiral ducts.
Why Install Stainless Steel Spiral Ducts?
Many professionals in various industries utilize stainless steel ductwork. Although stainless steel applications have a higher initial cost, stainless steel duct fittings have a track record of being one of the most reliable solutions on the market.
Stainless steel ducts are ideal for ventilation systems in hot and humid environments, and technicians also choose stainless steel ductwork in research facilities and laboratories to ventilate air with hazardous components.
You'll also find this ducting in buildings with air-containing compounds that would be damaging to other types of ductwork, like galvanized steel. The food industry, for example, uses salts that can corrode galvanized steel, but the salts don't affect stainless steel. Experienced HVAC technicians often select stainless steel ducts for harsh environments where corrosion is a significant concern, as stainless steel is durable and resistant to corrosion.
The Advantages of Stainless Steel Spiral Ducts
By utilizing stainless steel spiral ducts, you get:
- Durable ductwork: Stainless steel is more expensive than its counterparts, but this material offers better long-term benefits. You can utilize stainless steel spiral ducts indoors and outdoors without frequent replacements or costly upkeep.
- A healthy environment: Your clients can enjoy healthy, fresh air. Stainless steel is resistant to moisture and condensation and prevents mildew and mold growth. This product is perfect for industries dealing with oil and air mist.
- Corrosion-resistant ducts: Stainless steel ducts can withstand corrosion and are also resistant to absorption.
- Eco-friendly products: Stainless steel spiral ductwork is environmentally friendly and entirely recyclable. Recycled stainless steel is often used to create wave, solar and geothermal power.
- Perfect fitting products: Stainless steel is much easier to work with than aluminum. This material is more rigid, making fabricating ducts that fit together perfectly. Manufacturers use it to create custom designs of the highest quality.
- Aesthetically pleasing environments: Your clients will love the sleek and modern look of stainless steel ductwork. Architects and designers can utilize stainless steel applications in food halls and other public spaces.
